Burgess Advertising & Marketing’s Campaigns Honored with Golden Arrow Awards from the Maine Public Relations Council

February 11, 2015, 12:32 PM

Portland, ME (January 13, 2015) – Burgess Advertising & Marketing was recently honored with two Golden Arrow Awards, Silver and Gold in the Paid/Earned/Owned Campaign category, from the Maine Public Relations Council (MPRC) for our work on the enroll207.com and Save Your Pipes campaigns. The Golden Arrow Awards, judged by a panel of experienced public relations and communications professionals from outside the state, acknowledge Maine’s practitioners and the high quality exemplary communications they produce.

When Maine declined to set up and promote its own Health Insurance Marketplace under the Affordable Care Act, the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) stepped up to create enroll207.com, a website to inform Mainers about the availability of new health insurance options available on Healthcare.gov. Burgess worked with MeHAF to implement a multi-pronged effort to build awareness of enroll207.com, and position it as “Your Maine Connection to the Health Insurance Marketplace”. Burgess Advertising & Marketing won Silver in the category of Paid/Earned/Owned Campaign the enroll207.com campaign. As a result of the aggressive campaign, Burgess and MeHAF were able to overcome the federal website’s rollout challenges and help 44,258 Mainers get health insurance coverage – 220% of the original goal! Now in its second year, we hope to continue to enroll and re-enroll Mainers for affordable health insurance through the Marketplace. Campaign specifics can be viewed on the enroll207.com website and social media pages.

Another campaign that received recognition from the Golden Arrow Awards was Save Your Pipes. Since baby wipes are not designed to break down in water, the flushing of baby wipes has become a serious and costly problem for many communities across the country. The Association of Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) and the Maine Wastewater Control Association (MWWCA), now known as the Maine Water Environment Association (MeWEA), formed a unique partnership to address the issue and persuade consumers not to flush baby wipes. Burgess Advertising & Marketing won Gold in the same category, Paid/Earned/Owned Campaign, for the Save Your Pipes campaign. The campaign creative can be viewed at saveyourpipes.org.
