Burgess Healthcare Work Continues to Impress
Providence, Rhode Island - Burgess Advertising and Marketing again showed it is to the fore of health care marketing in Maine by winning two Lamplighter awards at the New England Society for Healthcare Communications’ Annual Spring Conference held in Providence, Rhode Island.
The “Lamplighter Awards” are presented each year in recognition of excellence in a variety of marketing, communications, and public relations areas, including publications, audio-visual presentations, and excellence in writing, marketing, and advertising. All entrants are judged by a panel of recognized professionals, typically from outside of the New England region, and projects are evaluated based upon their quality and achievement of desired results.
Burgess won the Gold in the Community Relations/Outreach/Advocacy Category for its Maine Comprehensive Cancer Council Program’s Colon Cancer Awareness Campaign, and a silver award in the Logo Design category for the Visiting Nurse Association.
The Colon Cancer Awareness Campaign was a statewide media and public awareness campaign which included a mini-tour of Maine by CoCo the Colossal Colon, a 40 foot long, 4 foot tall, 3,500 lb. interactive replica of the human colon, hosted by well-known Maine Comedian Tim Sample. And colon cancer awareness kits were distributed via the Shaws supermarket chain and libraries throughout the State.
The campaign was also judged as the best Communication Campaign by the Maine Public Relations Council at its last annual Golden Arrow Awards.
Judy Katzel, President of Burgess Advertising, said “Being recognized and honored by ones peers is a thrill but it was more rewarding to know the winning campaigns had also been hugely successful for the clients. The MCCCP Colon Cancer Awareness campaign which resulted in a 300 percent increase in calls to the organization’s Colon Cancer hotline for further information on colon cancer screenings.”
