President/CEO

Oliver Payne
Creative Director

A co-founder of Burgess, Brewer, Stanyon & Payne, Oliver came to Maine in 1986 with a decade of experience in New York City managing brands such as Noxzema Skin Cream, Skippy Peanut Butter and Hellmann's/Best Foods Mayonnaise. He brings to each client the strategic discipline and inspiration to create effective campaigns with memorable themes, integrated across multiple media, for clients such as New England Cancer Specialists, Oakhurst Dairy, Mercy Hospital, MEMIC, MeHAF/enroll207.com, saveyourpipes.org, Efficiency Maine and several banks and insurance agencies. Outside the agency, he's a poet, cyclist and cross-country skier. 

Betty Angell
Media Director

The most experienced Media Director in the Maine market, Betty has worked with hundreds of clients—both consumer and B2B, on the local, regional, and national levels—over  30+ years. She possesses strong negotiating skills, loves research and numbers, and has an excellent working relationship with the media, bringing to each Burgess client maximum purchasing power and ideal ad placement. Virtually all our clients also benefit from her expertise in the ever-evolving digital media landscape (mobile, search, and pay-per-click). Betty is a huge fan of Boston sports and an avid theater-goer. 

John Spritz
Account Manager

John brings to Burgess clients extensive experience advising companies and nonprofits as diverse as Lucas Tree Experts, the Maine Health Access Foundation, Migis Lodge, TechMaine, Walch Education, and Wright-Ryan Construction. He was most recently the manager of the Growing Portland collaborative, an economic development initiative, and coordinates the annual Walk the Working Waterfront event each June. A graduate of Harvard, John has lived in Portland since 1990, and has been a classical DJ on local radio stations through the years. 

Christina Hill
Art Director

Christina contributes fresh and effective design solutions for virtually all Burgess clients, including New England Cancer Specialists, Dielectric, Central Maine Healthcare, and Greater Augusta Utility District. She is a graduate of the Maine College of Art, with a BA in Fine Arts, majoring in Graphic Design. She has developed an exceptional eye for type and color, is able to explore a range of concepts for each project, and has remarkable organizational skills. Christina has a side business creating elegant macramé home accessories, wedding backgrounds and trinkets. 

Julie Salvato
Account Manager

Julie brings extensive sales and marketing experience to her role as Client Relationship Manager for the University Disability Consortium (UDC) account, a network of medical professionals who perform unbiased medical file reviews. She is a graduate of UMaine and has a Masters in the Art of Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University. Julie has recently proven her endurance in the Dynamic Dirt Challenge and Sebago Lake Triathlon.  

Becky Williamson
Digital & Social Media Coordinator 

Becky coordinates our digital media (websites, social, SEO and more). She has years of experience writing and creating videos for social media, performing SEO, analytics and web development. Since being with Burgess, Becky has assisted clients in growing their engagement on social media platforms and making adjustments to their website. Becky previously worked at the Forecaster, where she handled event planning for the Maine Women's Expo, office support and ad sales. She enjoys camping, gardening, gaming on the PS4, comedy and traveling. 

Tammy White
Controller/HR Manager

Tammy has brought to Burgess nearly 30 years of experience managing the financial and human resource functions in various small businesses, non-profits and public accounting. She has a B.S. in Accountancy from Bentley College, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Finance, and Enrolled Agent status. Tammy is a licensed private pilot, SCUBA diver, proud marathoner, past Board member at Sweetser, and volunteer in feeding the disadvantaged. 

Rachel Gildard
Assistant Controller

Since 2007, Rachel has maintained the agency's excellent reputation among vendors for timely communication and payment; and among clients, for clear and accurate invoicing.  Before joining Burgess, Rachel had an extensive background in accounting and bookkeeping. She is an avid gardener.
